We Must Allow God To Become Greater

John 3:30 He must increase, but I must decrease. (NKJV)

So, how can this happen? The NIV translation states He must become greater; and I must become less. As we study more of God’s Word and apply Him to our daily lives, He becomes greater, and we become less. But herein lies a major problem. We cannot simply rely on what God can do only through the scriptures alone. He wants to impact our lives through our personal prayer life, quiet time alone with Him, and our interaction with other believers as well as unbelievers.

God wants what is best for us and these are some ways we give Him access to our lives so we can grow more in Him. We need to give Him our tongues, so our speech honors Him. We need to give Him our thought life so our mind will have thoughts of honor toward our Savior Jesus Christ. We need to give Him our physical being so that we can serve others through our actions. In short, we must be proactive in our desire to grow in Christ and see others grow in Him as well. When He guides us to do something, we need to act on His direction for our lives. He is just waiting to pour out His blessings into the lives of those who truly seek Him.

So, what are we waiting for? God is waiting for us. It is time to get involved. So here is your plan right from God’s Word.  Knock, and it shall be opened. Seek and ye shall find, ask and it shall be given to you. (Ref. Matthew 7:7-12)

PrayerDear Lord Jesus, show me in my life what it is that I need to do to always put you first that I may decrease, and You may increase. Help me to always understand that my testimony should always reflect Your great love and grace that others may see that You are truly first place in my life. In Jesus’ name I pray, AMEN.
