Know What You Believe
Hebrews 10:23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. (NKJV)
The Amplified Version states it this way: Let us seize and hold tightly the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is reliable and trustworthy and faithful [to His word].
Have you ever been involved in a conversation with someone who just could not make up his or her mind? This can be very frustrating. In today’s verse we are told to hold fast the confession of our hope. Our hope is in Jesus Christ our Savior. God’s Word clearly states what can happen to those who cannot seem to hold fast. (Reference James 1: 5-8 and focus on vs. 6-8.) Wavering in what you believe can be dangerous.
When we study God’s Word, we need to allow time for God to speak to us through the scriptures. I recommend that we keep a daily journal of what we sense God is saying to us through His Word. It can be a composition book, or a daily organizer. Whatever it takes to jot down the things God has called to your attention. Leave nothing out. Date your entries, list prayer requests, and note when they are answered. This technique works for me.
Track your progress and watch how you grow. You will become a stable point that does not waver as you grow more in the knowledge and wisdom of Christ offered through God’s Word.
Hold fast!
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, Help me to hold fast to my profession of faith, trusting You fully for the outcome in all things that I may honor You. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
