But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.
Isaiah 40: 31 But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. (NKJV)
In the Hymn “Trust and Obey” we see the first lines: “When we walk with the Lord, in the light of His Word, what a glory He sheds on our way!….”
That hymn brings back memories of many times when I needed a Word from God, or I needed to sense His presence in a journey He had me on. I found myself humming or even singing this song. It always brought a smile to my face and placed joy in my heart.
When we walk, we are going much slower than running or soaring like an eagle.
I had a friend Todd. We’d walk during lunch, and we’d talk about life with Christ and the impact He had in our lives. Then there were times I’d walk alone. It was during those times I spoke to God about the issue or situation I was going through. I needed His direction, and He knew my heart. In the calmness of the moment, He spoke to me through verses I remembered or songs I used to sing. But most important, it was our time alone that I truly enjoyed and still enjoy to this day.
Take a walk with Jesus and experience His time alone with you. If you are physically challenged, then lean back, close your eyes and drift off with a Hymn, praise song, or verse of scripture and let Him touch your heart.
Prayer: Dear Lord, Help me to be patient and turn to Your Word. Teach me how to watch and wait as You move in my life. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
