Know What You Believe

Hebrews 10:23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. (NKJV)

Have you ever been involved in a conversation with someone who just couldn’t make up his or her mind? This can be very frustrating. In today’s verse we are told to hold fast the profession of our faith. God’s Word clearly states what can happen to those who can’t seem to hold fast. (Reference James 1: 5-8 and focus on vs. 6-8.)

James 1:5-8

(5) If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

(6) But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.

(7) For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord;

(8)he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

Wavering in what you believe can be dangerous. When we study God’s Word, we need to allow time for God to speak to us through the scriptures. I recommend we keep a daily journal of what we sense God is saying to us through His Word. It can be a composition book, or a daily organizer. Whatever it takes to jot down the things God has called your attention to. Leave nothing out. Make sure you date your entries and keep a list of prayer requests and write down the dates when the prayers were answered. This particular technique works for me.

Over time, track your progress and watch how you grow. You will become a stable point that does not waver as you grow more in the knowledge and wisdom of Christ offered through God’s Word.

Hold fast!

Prayer: Dear Father in Heaven, guide me through your Word that I may be a reliable resource as I grow deeper in my relationship with You. In Jesus’ name I pray, AMEN!
