Patience? You’re Kidding Right?

James 1:2-3 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.  (NKJV)

Well folks, this is yet another day in the week. No doubt, you have already needed patience. Something has already happened to make you reflect inward and wish you could be more patient. You may have already said, “I cannot believe this is taking so long.”

The other day I was in the drive through at one of the local fast-food restaurants. I sat in line in the comfort of my car, and I watched a gentleman go in. My position in the line had advanced a bit when I noticed that same man appeared about five minutes later carrying an armload of food. I then caught myself saying, “I cannot believe this is taking so long. I thought drive thru service was supposed to be quicker.” I had to chuckle. I asked God for patience. Did I get patience then? No, not in completed form.

God is working to develop us into His child. This takes time and patience on our part as we watch God and become the outward workings of His great purpose. When we look to God and seek His guidance and direction, we gain so much more by looking for His purposes in our lives. We might even stop and ask this question, “God, what are You trying to show me here? What am I to learn through this?” Ask God to guide you that you may have a better understanding of His great and wonderful purposes in your life. He does have your and my best interest at heart. Learning from Him takes time and……. patience.

Key Thought: Be patient. We are a work in progress. We are to progress toward the Holy One as He develops us into His child in His time for His purposes. Ah…to be used of God. What a place to be.

Jeremiah 33:3 says, “Call to me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things which you do not know.” (NKJV) This is quite a personal verse for me. It’s time to call on God.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, Guide me to your perfect peace as You focus my mind and heart on You. May I look to You in the answer to all things that go on in my life as You work developing patience in me. In Jesus’ name I pray, AMEN!
