We find our significance in God directing our steps….
Proverbs 16: 9 A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps. (NKJV)
I’m sure, like me, you have made long-range plans and short-range plans for your career, personal life, as well as for the future of your family. Before I accepted Christ as my Savior, my plans were for self and my family just tagged along, or so I thought. I really didn’t give them much to work with because my life without the Savior was pointless, regardless of my efforts to make it worthwhile. My life was similar to a compass without a needed pointer directing the way.
When I received Christ as my Lord and Savior at the age of 35, my life took on a new sense of direction. I wanted and needed guidance from God, and He was willing to guide me, and I was willing to be led….by Him and Him alone. It took time and patience on my part, but I learned that as God developed my heart to seek Him, that seeking Him became easier. I found Him in His Word, and I focused on Him there (Jeremiah 29:13). My prayer life improved as I watched Him move in my life. I began to watch His plan for me unfold on a daily basis. I watched God move in and through His Word. I found Him true to His promises and faithful in His answers to my prayers. No, it didn’t happen overnight. It took time, but I learned to let the Lord direct my steps. I found His path for me was much better than my plan.
His plan for my life has taken me farther on His glorious journey for me and my family than I could have ever dreamed. God still has to work on my patience as He guides me but I’m doing better each and every day as I grow closer in my walk with Him.
When we seek Him on His terms, we will discover our significance lies only in Him. God and God alone should be the defining factor in the life of any believer. Seek and find your significance in Him and Him alone….beginning today.
Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, satisfy my heart’s desire as I seek to know your path for my heart and direction for my life. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
Have a GREAT Day!!!
In Christ,
Ted Wilkins
